I have a problem that seems to be successfully fixed every day, then recurs with a variation.
My Vista laptop became infected with at least one virus one week ago. I use either Firefox or Opera, never IE. Initial symptom was IE continuously opening to nonsense sites. Initially used Spyware Doctor, then Windows Defender, and now Microsoft Security Essentials (now only this is installed) to remove multiply-named trojans and a "backdoor" virus. Trojans seem successfully removed, and then a new one, with a new name, will appear. Yesterday I ran steps 1-4 from the malware cleaning guide and seemed virus free on two Microsoft Security Essentials scans, both before and after rebooting. Then followed the "Preventing Malware" suggestions, using NoScript and McAfee Site Advisor in addition to the Microsoft Security Essentials. This AM ran full scan and found Trojan:Win32/FakeYak. Microsoft removed it and Malwarebytes (log below) scans clean right now, but that has happened before. Ran GMER (log below
