windows 7 black screen of death

I have a COMPLETELY frozen black screen/windows reloader. which of coarsegives youtwo selections for rebooting. however the screen is frozen. I have tried bios reloads,cmos memory deletion. cannot get into safe mode etc. I cannot download anything either. any ideas on how to reset or totally remove windows to reload?
thanx. completely out of patience.

Restore from the backup image that Windows 7 allows you to make (it's part of the Windows 7 Backup tool).
I made my backup image straight after I had finished setting up my new PC - I assume you did it too?
