I have Cox Cable. It's a dynamic IP, but they told me its a long release period so I basically can't change my IP. Anyway, I've gone through the basics of trying to change my IP. I tried unplugging my modem for 10 seconds, 2 hours, 24 hours. I tried release & renew. Same with my WRT54G v8 wireless router. I tried changing the LAN IP of my router - don't really know if that even does anything. Also did a hard reset on it and nothing. Basically I'm at a stand still. I've come to the conclusion maybe if I buy a new modem it will change my IP since IP is connected directly to the MAC address as far as I'm understanding. Hopefully it won't come to that, and I don't want to use a Virtual Private Network. Any other suggestions?

:)

Not sure why you need to change your IP address :) .

While changing a static IP is possible, I am not willing, and
probably not allowed, to discuss the methods here.

Maybe a staff member will be willing/allowed to shed some more light
on this subject for you :) .

Edit: Pardon me, I misread your post. Thought you had static IP.

Well, it's even easier to change a dynamic IP, but I'll still let staff handle
this one.

:) SGC :)

The public IP that everyone reads. I need to change my IP to get around a client that has my IP ban. Apparently it's a lot harder than I thought. I use to be able to change it easily until I got this new ISP.

Have you tried a Tunneling Proxy Server?
