I was trying to install Windows 7 in my Acer 5620 desktop. I backed up personal files but no system files (my mistake). During the install process, I formatted my c: drive (still have d: partition) and installed Windows 7. At the completion of the install, the computer restarted and during start-up process i get the following acer error message: "Cannot find file C:\D2D\Images\*.wsi when trying to determine UI language" I cannot use the restore option as I have formatted the c drive and it will not work.

Please help!!

Use the 2 recovery discs you made when the laptop was new, this will put Vista back on the way it was when it left the factory. No good installing Windows 7 on it unless you are sure that Acer have Win7 drivers for your model on their support website (which they don't have, I just checked).

Acer drivers are custom-made, only Acer can supply them. If your intention was to get drivers from individual device manufacturers websites, they would most likely not work properly if at all.

Thanks. I do not have recovery disks. Do I have to order from Acer or is there something online that I can download?

Yes, I still have that partition. I have the hidden one, C: (which I formatted), and D: (which still has some data).

(Thanks for your help!!)
