Revised: I now have the netbook connected to the network, but, I cannot access the internet. I've run the diagnostics and still no solution. I am uber frustrated because a second laptop connects to the internet with no problem. Any advise?

I have browsed similar issues to no avail! Please excuse me if I'm asking a question that has already been answered. I have confused myself so much that I don't even know if I will explain correctly!

Original Post: I have a home computer, connected to the internet via dsl. Recently hooked up a linksys router and successfully connect my Toshiba laptop wirelessly. Recently bought an HP netbook. I have followed all of the appropriate steps and cannot connect the HP netbook to the internet, at all. I have troubleshooted this issue so much, I can't remember all of the steps I've taken.

I did go through the "network troubleshooting" option on the netook, followed all advice and steps. At one point, I did get it connected to the network, but still couldn't get on the internet. Now, i'm back to square one, it perpetually says "acquiring network address". I also plugged the ehternet cable directly into the netbook and stil couldn't connect to the internet.

Everything is running Windows XP.

It's driving me crazy because my older Toshiba laptop will connect.

Any advice (in laymans terms) would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance!
