One day as I was working on my computer, I noticed my computer get dimmer and dimmer (Its the power save setting on Vista) so I checked if the AC adapter was plugged in... and it was... tightly.

Now, I don't even know whether it is the battery problem or the AC adapter!

My computer doesn't have much life left... It will soon shut down... so if I don' reply, I think my computer's battery went out...

Im using a Compaq...

Thanks

You'll know if it's the power adapter that's faulty if the laptop goes dead when the batter is exhausted. With a working power adapter your laptop will automatically switch over to mains electric when the batter runs flat, if it doesn't, the adapter is faulty and needs replacing.

Alternatively, remove the battery then plug in the power adapter and make sure the mains supply is switched on at the mains plug. Press the 'on' button on your laptop. If nothing happens the adapter is definitely faulty.

Actually, I figured out my problem... and I thought it was the battery... Apparently the AC adapter line was twisted, the part where you put into the computer (the Tip), when we went to the computer store to checked what happened... My laptop already ran out of battery so I couldn't reply... but thanks for trying to help... You can close the case now.
