Hi there,

I registered to a forum the other day and it only allows one registration per IP address but my little brother also wants to register. Is there a way to change a computer's IP address in a way such that the forum would not know two people are using the same computer and internet? Another question, if I am able to change the computer IP address, would they know me and my brother are using the same computer (same internet etc)?

I am using Windows Vista.

Thank you in advance for your help.

If you want to change the IP address of your internet connection, you should contact your service provider, as they're the ones who exert control over this.

I don't believe 1 computer can have 2 different IP addresses.

The IP of the computer is irrelevant. It's the IP of the connection that's of interest, not the computer.
You can have as many computers on an internet connection as you want (for example at the library) but they'd all have the same IP address.

The only option you may have is to disconnect the internet, reconnect and hope you get a different IP. This will of course only work on those providers that dish out dynamic IPs (which most of them do) and those that don't hold onto your IP for a short while in case you reconnect to give it you back.
