I am facing the problem of disk failure in the Maxtor external firewire drive that I have. Well, this 160 GB drive has been partitioned into A & B drive. One month ago, all of a sudden the B drive cannot be accessed at all and the drive B letter has changed to Drive H, local disk. Whenever I click on it, it always ask if I want to re-format the disk. As I have some very important data archived into it, and I have been trying in the past 2 weeks, including using the Norton 2005 System Works. It didn’t seem to work.

Is it a HD casing or an actual external HD?
