I was browsing youtube, using google chrome and suddenly a virus scan popped up and not AVG which is the only one I have installed and use. It wouldn't let me back onto chrome and I clicked on other files and every file was saying it was infected. I logged off my user account and went onto the admin account and everything was working fine on there. So, I used system restore and am now back on the account which was infected..everything seems back to normal, but I don't understand what happened? Was it a virus? I don't know.. just about an hour before that happened, AVG was doing it's daily scan and no infections were found..
What do you think it could have been and what should I do? A bit worried incase it happens again!
Hope someone can help, thank you.

I suggest you go to the Malware Removal and Spyware Removal Forum and run all the steps located in the
START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own.
If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post the reguested logs in THAT forum.
If you are unable to run any of the tools then start a new topic in the malware forum and put this in the subject line...I am unable to run any malware tools

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

Add a link to this topic so that malware tech can see what steps have been taken here

I did the steps in that thread yesterday after I posted this, nothing was found so system restore must have done the job. However later that night I had a similar pop up, did them steps again and it seems to have cleaned things up.
I'll post over there if it happens again..Apologies for posting in the wrong forum!
Thanks for the reply.

It seems the infection may be hidden and the steps are just taking care of the top of the issue. You may want to consider posting a topic in malware just to have them go through your system a little more deeply to look at everything.
