Upgrading graphics card

I recently bought an xps8000 from dell. the graphics card (geforce gt 220) is mad loud and seems to be struggling. they've replaced the fans once and made no difference. im looking for a upper mid/high end card. i use the comp for vids/games nothing to extreme.
My computer:

dell xps 8000
Processor Intel® Core™ i5 CPU 750 @ 2.67GHz
Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 Gaming graphics 2811 MB Total available graphics memory
Primary hard disk 500gb

screen is LG Flatron w2253tq "22inch"
i use 1920x 1080 resolution

any ideas for a good graphics card?
