I have a desperate need to help my brother with his laptop. I had this virus before on an old computer and can't remember how to even start to get rid of it. I know we were supposed to boot into safe mode with networking, however, his won't do anything but boot into safe mode (with no networking) and we can't get it to do anything else.

Unfortunately, he is from out of town and our step-dad passed away two days ago...he needs it for his work and we are going to be on the road to his funeral in the next day or so. He has wi-fi, so if you could just tell me where to start, maybe I can get it at least get start with networking so we can come back to this forum while we're on the road.

Sorry, for the sob story, but unfortunately it's true and our regular lives have to continue or we will have another big set of problems on our hand.

If anyone can respond quickly, I so appreciate it. Thanks

Please go to the malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post an OTListIt log in THAT forum.

Thank you!!! I've done that before with my other computers, but my one major question is that if I can't get into it on safe mode - with networking to download that stuff...how do I get it to start with the ability to access network? Or do I use MY computer to make a disk with mbam and avast and stuff like that to boot on his? So sorry I am in such a hurry, I know you guys are doing this volunteer...I will just have to wing it a little if I don't hear from anyone in time.

p.s.....how do I post the otl in "that forum"? this is the only way I know how to send a message to you all.
