possible keylogger?

hi my sister removed something about her touch mouse on her laptop, now shes getting some kinda antivirus warning about a keylogger. the name of the program she removed was synopsis or something like that. would removing this cause her antivirus to give warnings about a keylogger? she's freaking out, turned off her internet and shut her computer right down saying she would buy an updated A/V tomorrow. if it is a keylogger, will an A/V remove it?
