I don't know whether this is a funny one or whether I'm just stupid, but here goes...

I have 2 PCs. One is running XP, IE 6 and is pretty new with a subscription to Norton. I would like to run LiveUpdate, but it kept failing to connect. I have a broadband connection and so couldn't understand why. If I try to connect to www.symantec.com, I can't - just get "This page cannot be displayed". This is also true if I type in www.symantec.co.uk.

However, I can go to www.symantec.co.nz (i.e. the New Zealand site).

My other PC (Win ME and IE5.5) will connect to www.symantec.co.uk and www.symantec.co.nz but not www.symantec.com. Evidently it is the .com site that I need to update Norton.

Have you any idea why I might not be able to access this page?

Any help on this one would be appreciated.

Thanks

First try resetting your hosts file using a program called Hosts File Reader: Click Here

To reset the host file to default, simply open the program, click the "reset default" button, and confirm the changes.

See if that works.

I can't download it - it just tells me I can't leech this file, I must visit the home page. Even if I try to get there through the homepage>downloads>software etc. It still tells me the same thing. I am registered and logged in (and subscribed to the file, whatever that means - although I've also tried being unsubscribed to the file!)

Is this likely to be the same thing?

Well I managed to get the reader from somewhere else. I did as you said and I'm currently running LiveUpdate now.

You guys are bloody brilliant - thanks a great big bunch!
