Hi there

I have downloaded some films from the web. I use VLC Media Player to watch them on my laptop with no problems.
I used the Burn facility in VLC Media player to burn from my hard drive to a blank DVD, and the DVD played fine on my laptop.
However, when I put the DVD into my DVD player it doesn't work. The files are .mkv type if that helps.

Where am I going wrong? Do I have to format the blank DVDs first?

I prefer to watch the films on my TV rather than my laptop screen.

It's a new laptop, and doesn't seem to have any video software apart from Windows Media Player which I don't think is very good, which is why I downloaded VLC.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, I would think that your dvd player doesn't recognise & play the .mkv format. You need to convert them to a format that your dvd player will recognise & play...

info. on .mkv files.

converter.

For more info. "GOOGLE" .mkv

Thanks for that.

After a little hunting I found www.dvdflick.com which is free.

I'm in the process of trying it out.

Kind regards
