I have a Samsung R580 laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I recently purchased it used, threw a new 7200rpm Seagate 500GB hard drive in it and did a clean install of Win7. Right from day 1 anytime it's unplugged and running on battery power the whole computer freezes for exactly 1 second every 4-5secs. It doesn't matter what I'm doing or not doing, it constantly freezes every 4-5sec but otherwise works fine. When it's plugged in it runs perfect 100% of the time. I already attempted matching all the power scheme options between "plugged in" & "on battery" within Win7 so I know there's no problem there... I ran all of Win7's troubleshooting utilities and there are no issues detected with anything. I'm thinking maybe a driver issue??? BUT, what driver would only be being used while on battery power. I'm pretty knowledgeable about computers but I can't figure this one out and it's driving me alil nutty! There's no bloatware whatsoever installed and no unnecessary programs running at startup... Any help or advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

I have Samsung R580 laptop and I have exactly the same problem. (I had no hardware changes on it). The Laptop freezes for 1 second randomly (everything freezes including mouse) when running on the battery. When it is plugged in, It is 100% working. But I need to solve this problem if anyone knows how to sort this out, please help me. I have knowledge about computers and laptops but could find anyway to sort this out. I agree, any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
