Hi there,

My HP Photosmart won't print text - in whatever colour. It prints photos, files from Paint, pictures in Word etc. fine (both in b/w and colour, though the colour is sometimes rather off).

At a certain point, it printed the text vaguely - I changed the cartridges, but it didn't help. Now, it won't print any text.
Printing a test page renders a page with coloured cubes and no text.

I removed the printer from the system and installed it again with the newest drivers etc. from internet.

Can anybody give me advice on what to do now?

I would be glad to try to help you. Please let me know if any of these suggestions work so I know the issue is resolved.

How long has this been happening?
Have you tried cleaning the print head through the HP utility?

There is a similar discussion here that you can read and try the steps to see if it resolves your issue.

If text is not printing, it should be an issue with the black cartridge or head. I would try changing the text in a document to another color and try printing it as mentioned in the link above.

If you are not sure how to clean the print head, consult your printers user guide located here. I believe the information you want is on page 127.

Thanks for your reply! I've already read the other thread and tried out text in other colours. This didn't help, as Iv,e stated, i cant print text in any colours. Pictures in b/w and colours arent a problem. So it doesnt seem to be a problem with the cartridges, but rather with drivers or something like that. Only,
I dont know WHAT....

it's really strange! I put in a new black cartridge (not the photo black, that I had renewed earlier) and it helped! Also now, it'll print coloured text where it wouldn't before... I don't understand it, but hope it stays operational...
