Moving up in the job market

I am just trying to get some insight on what I should do to move up in the IT field. As of right now I am 25 years old and have an associates degree in Computer Networking. Right now I am currently employed as a Network/PC Support Technician. I am doing this to gain the experience needed to get a better job, but I am also looking at other options to also help get an edge up on other people who will be applying for the future job I will apply for. Basically the question I am asking is which would be more beneficial: a bachelors degree in the IT field or some computer certifications?
