I'm not a tech but it may be that the printer is not compatible with the O.S. ( Windows 7, Mac, Linux ) your using ? I did find the following in a Google search.... http://support.lexma...1297788892923#1 As always be sure to restart the pc after installing , removing, or updating anything so the registry can't get corrupted.

You could try going to Start / Control Panel / Add-Remove Programs and see if any Lexmark X2250 programs are listed. If so try restarting the pc to see if that helps. If no joy go back to Control Panel and remove the Lexmark X2250 and run disk cleanup (Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Disk Cleanup. ) then restart the pc and reinstall the drivers and reboot again.

It all depends on the drivers, some are self install others you have to point windows to the drivers.

Usually printers come with a self installation software cd, some you need to plug the printer first others you need to start the installation first and wait to plug it in until it tells you or after it is finish installing.

If you bought your printer new you should have a booklet to tell you how to install depending on the OS version (XP, Viste, 7)

Also if your low on ram that could cause this issue. To find out how much ram your pc has click Start and right click on My Computer and click Properties. You can also run the free scan at http://www.crucial.com/ to see what type of ram and how much you can add. Don't have to buy from them and can use the info to buy locally.

Did you have the printer connected to the computer via the USB cable when you installed the drivers?
if you did, uninstall the drivers and disconnect the USB cable, install the drivers but this time only connect the USB cable when you get an on screen prompt telling you to do so, good luck and let us know how it goes.
