I have just recovered from an infected Windows Explorer derived from a Google redirect virus in my computer with Vista, and I received help from here http://www.geekstogo...ant-be-removed/
Those problems seem to be solved now. However, my computer seems to have been restored to a point in the past where I still had some programs I uninstalled some time ago and some things are now missing. Windows Update urged me to look for available downloads and when it began downloading I saw it was the Service Pack 1, which is odd because before I had the virus problems I already had SP2.
When it finished the download and after the blue and green Installing updates screen, it went to a black screen to start something that looked like an installation process and at one point it got stuck halfway through the process while displaying this:
!! 0xc01a001d !! 37543/93248 (\Registry\Machine\COMPONENTS\DerivedData...)
I turned it off and Startup Repair restores the computer. That happened last night.
Today I turned on the computer and before Windows loaded I saw blue screen of death and went again to Startup repair. It restored successfully but I don't know what was the origin of that screen and I don't have any service packs yet. How do install them?
