Programs not working after removing malware

Hello,

I recently had a very bad malware infection on my computer. It kept giving the error that my hard disk does not have enough space and that there is a critical error.

However, after that problem got fixed, I noticed that some of my programs refuse to load (for eg. Torrent episode downloader). Also I cannot change my desktop wallpaper. I can go to the settings (I have Windows 7 ultimate) and click on themes. But when I try to save themes, it does not change the desktop background at all.

If you could please help me out, I would really appreciate it.
