A few days ago I had an atikmdag.sys error on a Dell Studio 1730 laptop running Vista sp2. After the error, the computer would not boot up at all - I would turn it on, and it would just be a black screen. Eventually, I was able to get it to boot by doing a static discharge (unplugging, pulling the battery, holding down the power button for 60 seconds, then reconnecting.) When I got it running again, I ran all diagnostics, and it is not any sort of hard disc error.
It seemed to be running fine once I got it up and running again, but last night I had another atikmdag.sys error/BSOD. I was able to restart it fine immediately after, but this morning I am getting the same black screen, and doing the static discharge trick doesn't work anymore. I simply can't get the computer to do anything. (It's not a power thing, as all the lights on the keyboard work.)
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Dan
