Win7 not booting, Black Screen with white underscore

I recently turned off my computer and turned it back on and I have a Sony Vaio and it's saying the usual "VAIO." But, then when it loads I get a black screen with a white underscore in the top left of the screen, I left it there for a couple hours and there was no change. The underscore goes down about a half an inch after 5 seconds of the black screen. I've read other topics, but I can't even get into safe mode. I tried this as a last resort before I take into the shop. Thank you.
