I have xp sp2 and it works great for me on this little lap-top. I recently procured MS Office 2010 and min. requirements are XP SP3. Is it worth the effort to get upgraded? Do I have to pay for it?

Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go! :)

SP 3 stands for Service Pack 3. A service pack is a large collection of updates and new features released by Microsoft. It's completely free and recommended that you upgrade as soon as possible.

You should use Windows Update to get the latest updates as soon as possible, but if this is not an option, an offline installer of SP3 is available here.
