Modem problems

Are you sure that the phone line is OK now? Make sure it's plugged in securely. Unplug and replug to make sure. How about the settings? Is it set up properly?
If that doesn't work, let's see if the modem is the problem. Right click on My Computer and go to Properties->(Hardware tab if you have Windows XP)->Device Manager and look for the modem entry. Does it have any strange marking like an exclamation mark next to it? If it does, there may be a problem with the modem. If not, try deleting that entry and then restarting your computer. Try connecting again.
