I have a problem. My computer will not hibernate, I have so far managed to get the hibernate option to show at bottom left of screen, but when I click on it the computer after a while only slows down momentarily and then stops for a few seconds and then restarts. BUT if I turn off the power at the power point during the stopped period, and then turn on the power again when I want to restart the computer everything then restarts as if I had done a normal hibernation, with no loss of any work I was doing.

We need more information. What version of Windows? What are the specs of your hardware?

What happens if you just let the computer go to sleep - or hibernate on it's own, based on your Power options.
