A good operating system for an old IBM

I have an old server computer IBM (pentium 2) and I was wondering what operating system it can run at besides an xp (too expensive) and a 98 (too old)
Any linux versions? And my cd rom drive will only read a real disc will that be a problem. Its one of those old cd drives

What do you mean by a Real Disk?

How much have you worked with Linux as that will help what kind to suggest?
Have you tried a Linux Live cd to see if it will work on your system?
