Did you not get a System log from VEW?

The system file from VEW was the first one posted.

The problem with the virus site was actually that you had to browse and find the file to submit it, but those files are apparently hidden system files, and even though I thought I had show hidden files active, they were nowhere to be found.

The site will not allow you to type in the location. You have to browse to it.

Copy the text in the code box by highlighting and Ctrl + c

/md5start
beep.sys
CLBCatQ.DLL
SHELL32.dll
kernel32.dll
/md5stop

then run OTL and Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste (ctrl +v) the text. Verify that you got it all and Then
Click the ALL button for the six boxes on the left (services, registry, processes, modules and drivers)
click the Run SCAN button at the top
Let the program run unhindered, OTL will not reboot the PC when it is done. Save the log and attach the log to your next post as it may be very large.

See if you can create a new user, give it admin rights and a password then log off your current user and log on as the new user. See if anything changes in browser land.

No change after adding a new user. Each program opens as if for the first time, but no access on any of them...

FireFox
Yahoo Messenger
Opera
Seamonkey
Any other version of IE other than 64 bit
WS FTP

See if you can download and install that program we tried to install before using your new user.

One thing that looks wrong is beep.sys is gone from your system like it was never there and per this:

Eventually because of the lack of hardware to communicate with, support for Beep was dropped in Windows Vista and Windows XP 64-Bit Edition.

it probably wasn't. However, something is trying to start it (per the error logs)

Right click on Computer and select Manage (Continue) then Device Manager. View, Show Hidden Devices. Now look in the right pane. Find non-plug and play drivers and click on the + in front of it. IF you see beep, right click on it and uninstall.

Look at the other devices. Do you see any marked with red or yellow? What are they?

Looking at your event logs the installer seems to be hung on something. That might be why it couldn't install.

See if you can run the program referenced here:

http://support.micro....com/kb/2438651

where it says: Program Install and Uninstall troubleshooter

You might also uninstall VAIO Entertainment Platform as it is having problems. I assume you can download a new copy from their website?

There is not a beep.sys listed, and nothing is listed with a warning. The Microsoft file could not be run. I tried running it through the site like it recommends, as well as downloading and run it from the hard drive. Both returned errors. I have attached a listing of the non plug and play drivers.

See if you can get the installer cleanup utility to run.
http://majorgeeks.co...ad.php?det=4459
Once you save it, right click on it and select properties. Make sure Vista hasn't blocked it.

You don't really need to get all of them. Just the last one to install if you can tell from the program. Otherwise it is the one that installs microsoft works probably
