I just bought an Asus A43SA less than a week ago. Today, I suddenly started getting BSODs today, and it became pretty frequent. The BSOD had something to do with tcpip.sys, with my limited understanding from reading the Microsoft website, it seems to be related to drivers or something about using broadband usb and the laptop going into hibernating mode??

I am using a usb broadband modem and I did go into hibernating mode often, which means the internet connection got cut while in hibernation and automatically kick in when I start the laptop and the usb modem is detected. Not sure if this is the cause, but I am just stating this just in case it's relevant.

Another interesting observation is that when I got BSOD, all the time, I had Firefox on. The BSOD happened once when my computer just restarted from previous BSOD and I started Firefox.

I included the minidump and WER.xml file from the temp folder.

Other information that may be relevant:

The only driver installation I recalled doing today was the Windows update.

I did a system restore to before the Windows update ran, still the same BSOD

I used Advanced Care System 5 from IoBit and I just noticed today that the program just closes itself when half-way scanning though malware. It only happens when I scan for malwares, scanning registry keys and other stuff worked. I deleted it and re-installed, but same thing, so I deleted it again.

I accidentally used CCleaner to clean my registry this morning and realised that it was a bad idea, so I restored the backup.

I have IoBit Malware fighter, Microsoft Security Essential, Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security, I previously installed Super AdBlocker but deleted it 2 days ago.

EDIT: I typed all this using IE and there's no BSOD so far, while BSOD happened pretty quick when I have Firefox on.

EDIT2: scratch the Firefox suspicion, BSOD happened even when Firefox isn't running

Read about network adapter could be an issue, tried to update it using device manager and Windows updated it for me. My network adapter is Atheros AR9002WB-1NG wireless network adapter. Not sure if it will solve the BSOD, but it would be odd that this could be the problem as I am using a USB broadband modem to connect to the Internet.

EDIT: updating the driver did not hlep (

SFC scan showed that there's corrupted files, but couldn't fix it. I tried opening the cbs log but i keep getting "access denied"

Uninstall Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security,IoBit Malware fighter.Then reboot your machine.

I uninstalled IOBit Malware fighter earlier. For some odd reason, anti-malware programs are acting weird. They all auto-close during scanning (same as the Advanced System Care 5 I mentioned above). Even Malware Bytes closes halfway, and I have to start it up again. Could it be because of a virus or because I have Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security installed??

You need to choose between Trend and Microsoft Security Essential You CAN NOT have two antivirus apps installed.

Download BLUESCREENVIEW and install and run it to read the dump files created by windows.
Double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.
When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.
Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.

Would you please tell me which antivirus applications you have had previously on this machine any and all.The reason I ask is because some like to hang around after you uninstall via add remove programs and require the use of removal tools.

Just DONT us the registry cleaner function of CCleaner unless you know what you are deleting exactly!!

Then open ccleaner hit the tools button then startup second one down below uninstall then in the bottom right hand corner of ccleaner hit save to text file.Save it to your desktop and post the startup.txt here in your next reply.


Hit the start button in lower left hand corner. Then in the run box type msconfig, then hit the services tab then put a check mark in hide microsoft services what is listed there,after hiding microsoft services?Please post back to us in a vertical list.

Please download MINITOOLBOX When the box opens click save file, save it to the desktop and run it.





Checkmark the following boxes:


Flush Dns
List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size
Click Go and post the result.

I deleted Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security. The only ones left are Microsoft Security Essentials and free version of MalwareBytes (for scanning purposes)

super adblocker (deleted, got rid of something called "Sabkutil" the program it left behind by deleteing the registry key)

I already ran chkdsk and sfc. Chkdsk fixed some stuff, while sfc scan showed that there was corrupted files but it couldn't fix it.

IE hangs up when I try to paste the CBS log here, I think there's too much text in there, so I uploaded it to skydrive instead.

Malwarebytes can finish quick scan now without suddenly closing. Trying the full scan and see if there's any issues. So far I've been on my laptop for around 45 minutes after deleting IOBit Malware Fighter and Trend Micro Titanium Internet security, no BSODs yet.

Edit: managed to finish full scan on Malware Bytes without it closing, and no BSOD so far. Hopefully the info i posted earlier are all clean?

Hit start button at lower left hand corner of the screen.Then in the run box type services.msc. Find the service listed below,one at a time. left click it once you should have the option to either stop the service or restart it , stop the service then right click selected service select properties then change the startup type to manual then left click apply and move on to the next service.If the service is stopped and the startup type is manual then do nothing.

right-click Run as Admin on TFC.exe to run it.If tfc doesnt prompt a reboot then do so manually.

OKie, I done every step.

Though Google Software updater and Google Update Helper seems to be missing. So I couldn't uninstall or disable them.

Well, startup seems to be a lil' faster now. Didn't notice any other difference yet. Maybe another few hours or days of usage then I might find out if things are better now. Never got any BSOD after uninstalling Trend and IOBit Malware Fighter 3 days ago. Thank you so much for the help!
