I use a laptop that runs Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium with an Atheros AR5B93 wireless network adapter, and my Netgear WGT624v4 wireless router has been giving me problems. I'm wirelessly hooked up to the mentioned wireless router, which is hooked up to a modem. Nothing else is hooked up to the router or modem.

I am able to browse the internet for a few minutes up to a few hours, and then it just stops, and usually, you just have to wait it out for a few minutes. The funny thing is that my wireless still says that it's connected, but I can't access the internet.

A computer is hooked up by wires to the router, and it never has any problems. In addition, several laptops are wirelessly connected to the router, and they lose internet access now and then as well.

When this was going down, to confirm this, I went into cmd and typed "ping google.com" and I couldn't get access to it. Here is what the command prompt showed:

Pinging google.com [74.125.227.49] with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.

Ping statistics for 74.125.227.49:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),

In addition, I went to the Network and Sharing center and a red X showed up between "Multiple networks" and the internet on the connection diagram.

Now here's where it really gets funny. Sometimes, when my internet goes out, the friends list on Steam still shows up, and I can actually talk to my friends on there. However, all of Steam's other online services do not work. This is the only program I have found to work so far when the internet was non-functional.

Also, this may be a coincidence, but when the internet was down, I turned off my laptop and got on another laptop to see what would happen. I got access to the internet instantly. Now I turned that laptop off and went back to mine, and the internet works on it as well.

I leave you with the current results for "ipconfig /all" while the internet is still working:

:welcome: Kein Mitleid, try flushing the DNS;

How to Flush DNS in Windows Using the Command Prompt

1 – Close all open web browsers and applications on your computer.

2 – Open the Windows command prompt by selecting the “Start” menu and entering “cmd” in the search text field box followed by clicking the “enter” key.

3 – At the command prompt, enter “ipconfig /flushdns” followed by pressing the “enter” key. After a moment, Windows will display a message similar to: “Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.” Once the message is displayed, the DNS will be flushed removing all incorrect entries.

4 – View the DNS resolver cache by entering, “ipconfig /displaydns” at the command prompt followed by clicking the “Enter” key.
