Sprint hot spot

Hi All

Has anyone worked with the Sprint hot spot? A friend has one and I could not get an HP Mini 1154NR to connect to it. Had usb wireless adapter that I installed and could connect to the hot stop through it and get out to the internet. I had my laptop with me and I could connect to the hot spot. I brought the computer to my house and without the usb adapter, it connected to my home wireless network with out any problems. Doesn't make any sense to me. The computer would see the hot spot in available networks, just would not get an ip address.
