Hi

I been having problems with my sound for a long time now, and i've ignored it. But now it getting annoying. No matter how many times I've formatted and re installed windows the same problem occurs. i've had this problem for around 2 years.

what happens is that when im playing a song or watching a movie, sometimes the volume goes really low sometimes and automatically goes up again. I dont know why this keeps happening. Im not sure but I have ACE mega codecs pack 6.03 installed on my computer and it seems like that, thats whats causing the problem. I dont want to uninstall this cuz its a really good codecs pack.

is there anything i can do about it? please help

thanx

Is this on board audio (on your motherboard) or PCI sound card? In either case, make sure you have the latest driver for the device installed. This would be a good place to start. If you are not sure what you have, run Belarc Advisor (it is free). It will tell you all about your system. Just do a google search for the link to Belarc Advisor.

I think you may have identified the problem. You have two sound cards installed. First, you need to get into the bios and make sure the on board sound card is enabled since that is the one you are using. If the PCI sound card is bad, I would suggest taking it out of your system all together. Go to device manager, remove it. Then shut down the computer and remove it. This may be what has been causing the problem. Try this and see if the trouble goes away.
