Hi guys. I'm trying to install a program and it ends up giving me this error when it's near installation:

"Error 1402.Could not open key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE32\Software\Wow6432Node\CambridgeSoft\ChemOffice\12.0"

I've google'd some work arounds, and some of them tell me to go into my registry and try and change around the permissions. I went into my registry and went into Wow6432Node. The problem is, I don't see CambridgeSoft anywhere in there. Is there some other workaround for this?

FWIW, I am logged in as the Administrator.

not sure this will help but try right clicking on the installer and select run as administrator
I have several programs that will not work properly unless I run it as administrator..

not unless your using xp...
vista and 7 log you in as a limited user (kind of) thats why UAC kicks in any time you try installing anything

Ahh, I see.

Well, when I right click, the "Run as Administrator" option isn't there.

your trying to run a 32-bit app on a 64-bit system...it should work but there are some programs that are going to give you fits...check and see if the program has a 64 bit version...
also be sure if its a 32 bit program its installed to "c:\program files (x86)\ that way the OS knows its a 32 bit program...

can you post a screenshot for me with the right click context shown...

Here's the screenshot:

And yes, it's being installed to "c:\program files (x86)\". There is no 64 bit version of it, but as you said, a 32 bit program should be OK on a 64 bit program.

your best bet would be to contact the program maker for advise on how to proceed or look for a alternative that will work if possible
