Adobe Flash player and Shockwave player are installed.
The Java version is 1.7.0_03 and it is working.
I think I am now caught up on what you asked me to do.

What is the current status of your computer? What is not working?
The sound is not working.
Do you still get the Image Transfer, Failed to initialize application message at boot? No

If not download the latest driver from the manufacturers web site and install it, see if that helps.

No, I did not get the error message, Image Transfer, Failed to initialize application.
I now see an icon in my task bar for RocketLife Communicator that wasn't there before. I don't know what it is, but I know that I didn't install it.

or you can try uninstalling HP Photo Creations program...it came with HP Photo Creations
after removing it and a reboot let us know if you still have any issues...
HP used to have great printers but now their software to run them is HUGE...700MB on the install cd that comes with the printer then it immediately downloads another 400MB and when done you will have icons on your desktop that you can't remove or delete even after uninstalling all of HPs crap...I will never buy or recommend another HP printer ever

I was told by another tech on geeks to go that I shouldn't uncheck anything in the start up tab. So I am wondering why you had me uncheck everything except avast!
I haven't tried to run every program to see if they all work. So, I may run into something later on. But IE7 seems to be working fine. However, some web sites, including Geeks to Go, need IE8 to operate properly.
When do you think I will be able to download IE8?
