My dell desktop will not boot when I turn it on it shuts down seconds later... please tell me why and what can I do about it

Couple of questions for you;
1: Do you have important data on the HDD that you wish to try and secure.
2: Do you have the OS or a system restore disk that may have been provided with your desktop.
3: Which particular model of Dell desktop is it please.
