I have a problem that my new computer seems to be sluggish and I have lost programmes and cannot reinstall, I am suspicious that something has been done to the registry. I had chrome installed without any problems then it disappeared, I tried to reinstall but it will not. The error it comes up with says I have to uninstall and I have followed all the instructions and suggestions but nothing works still keep getting the same message and no onbe seems to know why, which is why I am here cos you guys know everything.

I had a few other problems which seem to have ironed out as I cleaned the registry with avg which I run on the copmputer (full version) and I also used ccleaner which is usually enough when there is a probloem but no I still cannot install chrome. I am aware that this is not vital in the scheme of things but I prefer it as a browser and on top of that the whole system has slowed up and everything needs to be pressed often before it seems to register the command, is there anyone out there having the same or similar problem that they have fixed, I would be grateful for any suggestions.

  • Please understand we are all volunteers and we are not here all the time.
  • Sometimes it may be a extended amount of time to get back to you. If it has been
more then 3 days please shoot me a PM and I will try to get back to you quickly
    then.
  • Please do the following and supply the requested information as needed. If you
don't understand my instructions please ask and I will try to explain them
    clearer for you.
  • Do not attempt any steps unless instructed or ask before to
make sure they will not cause any further issues.
  • If you are receiving assistance in any other forum site please let us know as there may be conflicting advice given.

Before we can help you need to provide the following so I can start you in the right direction.
Laptop or Desktop?
  • If a name brand system then what brand, make and model is the system?
  • If custom built then what brand, make and model is the motherboard
  • Total memory installed
  • Total hard drive capacity and free space
  • What steps have you taken so far to resolve the issue

I also used ccleaner which is usually enough when there is a probloem but no I still cannot install chrome.

A registry cleaner will not increase your system's speed or performance, and has the potential to break your registry to the point that your PC is no longer bootable.
We strongly advise that people stay away from any of the registry cleaners out there.
Go HERE to get more information about why registry cleaners aren't needed.

Thanks to Sari for the explanation

Just a note: Before attempting to clean or fix any registry you should always make a backup of it first just in case something goes wrong.

I believe you have found why we do not suggest using any type of registry cleaner.
Have you tried a system restore to right before the issue started?
