Computer will not load windows

I turn on my computer and I get jibberish and columns of 00 00 00 00 all over the screen. Then it acts like is going to load, goes to the windows logo and my monitor shuts down. I turn the monitor back on and have a black screen. I am not sure if this is a virus, or if some type of hardware has gone bad. Any information that can help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The first line on screen shows this: Suriq! ATQ AXSI RYOS<0Versio~0iSrs 1>02.23 11212006 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
