That appears to be an older printer, I'm guessing you had it connected to an XP Machine before and the printer disk you're using has a printer driver for the XP operating system. You need a Windows 7 Driver, unfortunately from the Lexmark site HERE there is no Windows 7 Printer driver available for that printer. You could try the Vista driver others have said it worked, but I can't guarantee it and don't like to recommend it either. I'd consider getting a new more updated printer. That will also guarantee all the features of the printer will work, using the Vista driver may not produce such results as full functionally of the printer.

Joe :)

If I may chime in with a suggestion folks;

Uninstall all of the present Lexmark software.
Disconnect the printers USB connection.
Download and save the Vista drivers to your desktop http://support.lexma...serlocale=EN_UK
Right click on the downloaded drivers and then click properties, click compatibility and then choose run this program in compatibility mode for windows vista service pack 2 and click ok
Run the software and follow the install directions provided.

NB: Do not connect the USB cable until you get a message on screen telling you to do so.

Hope this gets it sorted for you.

Hi

once the usb is plugged a balloon comes up saying new hardware found we are installing it

Do not allow Windows to install the printer and see if you are able to do it manually.

Have you looked in the Control Panel - devices and printers and if so what is listed there please.
