Hi there,

I wish I could give out more information then I can provide because I am sort of a novice at these problems. Nevertheless, I hope somebody here can help solve my issue. Everytime I try and read the information from the blue screen of death I only get about 5-10 seconds to see the text. I can't really give out full information on what it tells me because it goes way too fast for me to read it all.

For about a week now, I've have multiple bsod's that have given me different error messages such as,

"Download iqrl not less or equal" Now I am getting "Bad pool header"

At the moment, I know I tried using regedit to delete some files and failed because of access denied. I tried virus sweeping, registry cleaners, and all sorts of spyware removal that still did not help.

SPECS:

http://img13.imagesh...167/specste.jpg

http://img155.images...272/specs2f.jpg

This is a Desktop Coolmaster computer. It is Asus and has about 1,000gb

This is really all I know at the moment.

Download BlueScreenView
No installation required.
Double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.
When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.
Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.

Thanks to Broni for the instructions and program

First a explanation of each of your errors.

0x00000019: BAD_POOL_HEADER
A pool header issue is a problem with Windows memory allocation. Device driver issues are probably the msot common, but this can have diverse causes including bad sectors or other disk write issues, and problems with some routers. (By theory, RAM problems would be suspect for memory pool issues, but I haven’t been able to confirm this as a cause.)

0x000000D1: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
The system attempted to access pageable memory using a kernel process IRQL that was too high. The most typical cause is a bad device driver (one that uses improper addresses). It can also be caused by caused by faulty or mismatched RAM, or a damaged pagefile.

0x0000001A: MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
This memory management error is usually hardware related. See the General Troubleshooting of STOP Messages checklist above. If this occurs while installing Windows, also check the Windows system requirements including the amount of RAM and disk space required to load the operating system. If none of the above resolves the problem,

0x0000007E: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
A system thread generated an exception which the error handler did not catch. There are numerous individual causes for this problem, including hardware incompatibility, a faulty device driver or system service, or some software issues. Check Event Viewer (EventVwr.msc) for additional information.

Several different possibilities so I'm going to start with the most obvious which is memory or hard drive. Please do the following and post back with results of each.

Tutorial for running chkdsk in Vista\Win 7 located HERE.

Run hard drive diagnostics: http://www.tacktech....ay.cfm?ttid=287
Make sure, you select tool, which is appropriate for the brand of your hard drive.
Depending on the program, it'll create bootable floppy, or bootable CD.
If downloaded file is of .iso type, use ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/ to burn .iso file to a CD (select "Write image file to disc" option), and make the CD bootable.

NOTE. If your hard drive is made by Toshiba, try the Hitachi DFT CD Image version of the software

Thanks to Broni for the instructions

A If you have more than one RAM module installed, try starting computer with one RAM stick at a time.

NOTE Keep in mind, the manual check listed above is always superior to the software check, listed below. DO NOT proceed with memtest, if you can go with option A

B. If you have only one RAM stick installed...
...run memtest...

1. Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip). If you prefer to use the USB version then use this link USB KEY
2. Unzip downloaded /memtest86+-4.20.iso.zip file.
3. Inside, you'll find /memtest86+-4.20.iso file.
4. Download, and install ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/
5. Insert blank CD into your CD drive.
6. Open ImgBurn, and click on Write image file to disc
7. Click on Browse for a file... icon:

Posted Image

8. Locate memtest86+-4.20.iso file, and click Open button.
9. Click on ImgBurn green arrow to start burning bootable memtest86 CD:

10. Once the CD is created, boot from it, and memtest will automatically start to run. You may have to change the boot sequence in your BIOS to make it work right.

To change Boot Sequence in your BIOS

Reboot the system and at the first post screen (where it is counting up memory) start tapping the DEL button
This will enter you into the Bios\Cmos area.
Find the Advanced area and click Enter
Look for Boot Sequence or Boot Options and highlight that click Enter
Now highlight the first drive and follow the directions on the bottom of the screen on how to modify it and change it to CDrom.
Change the second drive to the C or Main Drive
Once that is done then click F10 to Save and Exit
You will prompted to enter Y to verify Save and Exit. Click Y and the system will now reboot with the new settings.

The running program will look something like this depending on the size and number of ram modules installed:

Posted Image

It's recommended to run 5-6 passes. Each pass contains very same 8 tests.

This will show the progress of the test. It can take a while. Be patient, or leave it running overnight.

The following image is the test results area:

The most important item here is the “errors” line. If you see ANY errors, even one, most likely, you have bad RAM.

*Sigh* I don't mean to sound like an idiot while I probably do, but... How do I check my Hard Drive brand? Also,
I ran chkdsk and restarted my computer but there are no results shown. Where can I find these results from the black screen with all the white text that was on during the check?

As for RAM sticks, how can I tell what is a ram disk and what isn't? I am not really sure about what is what inside of my computer. I don't want to be pulling things I'm not sure of am screw things up for myself.

Please forgive me for sounding ignorant.

EDIT: Could additional details be given how reading, removing, and restoring the ram disks if I do happen to have more then one?

Don't worry about the physical modules just run the memtest86 program on the memory as instructed.

If you were watching while it was running the check it should have shown any errors it found. If not you may want to run it again and watch for the results.

While you wait for further instructions

If you have readyboost on a usb flash pen, as I think you have, shut down, remove the flash pen and reboot.

A faulty or corrupted flash pen used for ready boost can cause problems.

Just follow the instructions to make the hd diagnostics and the memtest discs. Then just make sure your system is setup to boot to the cdrom first. The only time you need to input anything is with the disc diagnostics and to make sure it runs the extended or advanced tests.

What exactly does this mean?

"10. Once the CD is created, boot from it, and memtest will automatically start to run. You may have to change the boot sequence in your BIOS to make it work right."

Could you go a leader deeper into detail with that?

Thanks.

Once you have created the memtest cd per the instructions using the program imgburn. Then what you need to do is start your system and enter the bios.

Hopefully you have already put the memtest86 cd in the drive before all this. If everything is setup correctly you will boot straight to the memtest86 cd and the testing will begin automatically.
