The basics: Toshiba Satellite C650D. HAD BEEN running Windows 7 Home Premium. Single 230Gb HD

From a couple of days ago, I have been getting the following error message when I try to boot:

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem...
1. Insert your WIndows installation disc and restart your computer
2. Choose your language settings, and then click Next
3. Click "Repair your computer"
If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.
File: \Boot\BCD
Status: 0xc000000e
Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.

So that was that for starters, scoured the web for solutions, some of those which I have tried include:

(1) Changing Advanced Settings in BIOS for HD from AHCI to Compatability - no joy

(2) System Recovery: Finds OS Windows 7 OK > Startup Repair > All tests come back as Completed Successfully

(3) I cannot do System Restore or Image Recovery as I dont have any

(4) Into Command Prompt:
(a) DISKPART
(b) LIST DISK > Disk 0 Online 232 Gb
© SELECT DISK 0
(d) LIST PARTITION > Partition 1 Primary 232Gb
(e) SELECT PARTITION 1
(f) ACTIVE

And then...

BOOTREC /FIXMBR - successful
BOOTREC /FIXBOOT - successful
BOOTREC /REBUILDBCD - 0 windows installations identified
BOOTREC /SCANOS - 0 windows installations identified

Obviously tried to restart but same error. Then did a complete wipeout (as I had previously got my disks backed up using XCOPY):

Diskpart
Select Disk 0
Clean
Create Partition Primary
Assign
Exit
Format X: /p:1 /v:CleanDisk /y

And then reinstalled...with the exact same message as at the very start. Somewhere in the middle of this I ran a CHKDSK with no errors and at this point I'm ready for the bridge. Somebody please help!

Hi TommyJ ... ..:welcome:
I would have gone with chkdsk /r first but it doesn't matter at this point
it sounds like you tried everything
do you have a different hard drive you can try installing to
