You had when we started 851 MB of space on C
There are as you know I think 1000 MB in a GB
you now have 1.7 GB you say in otherwords approx 1700 MB

you want a minimum of 10% and that is THE MINIMUM of free space, in otherwords 3.2 GB or 3200 MB

How much space does disk cleanup reveal can be saved when run on C Drive please
I told you how to get there before

CHECK all boxes on the window that opens - what can be gained please in total - that is shown at the bottom of the window
and what please is the amount on the individual entries for the TWO largest amounts - eg compress old files and any backup files from old installations

CAUTION DO Not run it yet please

OK go Control Panel programs and features
It will open on the window uninstall or change a program

See this
http://windows.micro...hange-a-program

Look at the list of programs, there are frequently progams installed from the web, or indeed from disc, that were there for previously owned mobile phones, camera, etc.

BE CAREFUL please, but if you see one that YOU know beyond doubt is no longer relevant to your computer click once on the entry to highlight it and then uninstall

If you have ANY doubt - leave it.

Once we can gain a little more space we will proceed to the next stage

There is nothing there anyway that will make that great deal of difference

Go start - right click computer click properties, on the left pane click system protection

it should open on that tab eg on the top of the window system protection

now you should see create restore point

and on the white section it will tell you for which drive it is turned ON

NOW create the point you may name it whatever you wish

Here is HOW
http://www.howtogeek...system-restore/

it should confirm the creation.

NOW please take your time with this ONE

Firstly I very much doubt you have a 64 bit edition of Vista

If you go start, right click computer and click properties on the window that opens it will tell you in the top section what edition of Vista you have and if it is 64Bit it will say do

NOW having satisfied yourself of that proceed as below

To save me a lot of typing you are going to delete all except the restore point you have just established.

http://www.vistax64....sk-cleanup.html

You are looking for the section the MORE OPTIONS window on disk cleanup

and then the section that says

You can free more space by removing all but the most recent restore point.

IF BY CHANCE the first part of this post from me reveals that you do have a 64 bit operating system, then the instructions are there, but you may wish to seek further advice, from me by posting back before continuing

Reboot and see what space is now available please on C drive - cancel that seen your last double post eg I posted as you did.

You are doing well

Now the next step is to shrink D and extend C, but this cannot be done in disk management, as the free space created on D would then be to the RIGHT of the D in disk management and we have to have it to the left of D in a postion that is known as behind C
In otherwords it must be in between C and D

This procedure is NOT dificult and YOU can do it, but it is more involved than what you have done now

Do you wish to carry on tonight or would you rather come back - depending on the day you have had workwise etc. and your time

OK I will send it you NOW

Please take your time

I am NOT back until about 1800 tomorrow it is now 2201 hrs in the UK

I suggest you read it when you are ready to try and if you have ANY questions please post before you proceed - the download for this is lower down the page on this post

YOU are looking at the page that explains to shrink D moving the arrow from the LEFT to the RIGHT

2. Position the mouse pointer on the left partition handle. Drag the handle to the partition size you want when the mouse pointer changes to a double-headed arrow.

Posted Image
you must NOT move it from the right to the left as then the free space will be in the wrong place

That is critcial.

FORGOT to add - SHRINK D to gain 3 GB that is 3000 MB

So after the first stage you should end up with space between C and D
Now you will get free space at the right side of system partition C.Posted Image

you then proceed to extend C into that space.

It is all there with images and you want the FREE download - left hand side - home edition freeware click on Home Edition

http://www.partition...hout-reboot.htm

Good luck and there is still more to do, but you will then have prevented the danger of reaching this situation again

Goodnight - time for YOU to go I think and start afresh tomorrow

I will be here as said about 1800 and I of course will know if you have posted any query or your success

Then we will tidy up.
