My HP laptop will not show anything on the screen when I turn it on. For a while, I could move the laptop at a certain angle and it would work. Now it is completely black, but is still running. Someone told me it was my back-light. Any ideas on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

if it was your backlight, you could shine a flashlight on the screen, and you would see the screen faintly. It could be your whole lcd that needs to be replaced, your LCD cable could have a bad connection or short, and if its a CCFL screen, they also use a invertor to power the screen which sometimes go.
Installing a new backlight on a lcd screen is a very hard job, I would describe it as needing medium to expert skill.
To be postive its a screen issue and not a bad video card, hook up a external monitor to your laptop. If the screen displays there, you at least know the problem related to the screen 100%
