Hopefully the right place for this... Ok..

Recently formatted my system, and now running into an odd problem.

Whenever playing a game, when I alt-tab out of the game, I can't bring the game back up. I click on the game tab on the start menu, nothing happens. I can't bring it back up using Alt-Tab either. Sometimes I get lucky and can get it back up if I click a lot. Otherwise, I have to close the game and start over.

This seems to happen with all games running full screen. I haven't tested them in window mode though, but would rather not play any game in window mode. Also it seems to be only games. Not any other applications.

I have no idea what could be causing my games to get stuck once I alt-tab. Any help is greatly appreciated on this one.
Thanks.

Yes all drivers up to date and everything is updated. I just restored my system to how it was before formatting. Now, I am running into this problem, which wasn't occurring before.

Please download MINITOOLBOX and run it.
http://download.blee...MiniToolBox.exe

Checkmark following boxes:

Report IE Proxy Settings
Report FF Proxy Settings
List content of Hosts
List IP configuration
List Winsock Entries
List last 10 Event Viewer log
List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size
List Devices (problems only)

Click Go and Attach the result.

Download Autoruns and Autorunsc Unzip it to your desktop and then double click autoruns.exe After the scan is finished then click on File>>>>>>>>>>>Save The default name will be autoruns.arn make sure to save it as Autoruns.txt under the file type option. in other words make sure it is a .txt file instead of .arn Attach the text in your next reply.

Alright, Minibox is attached.

I had a problem with saving the Autoruns file. When saving as a .txt then opening the file, all the text was corrupted.

I noticed something additional... When trying to click on "Save as type" the menu drops down but then disappears. It doesn't stay down for me. I noticed this is happening on everything now. For example, I tried to save an image from a site, clicked on save as type and the menu drops down but disappears before I can select anything. Probably can be related to what is happening to when I alt-tab out of a game.

Anyway, I finally got Autoruns to attach.

EDIT:
I tested, window mode doesn't work either. Also when any game is minimized, task manager says its "Not Responding". The only way I can get it back up if I right click on the name in task manager, and click "bring to front".

Also whatever this problem is seems to be affecting quite a bit. Such as the "Save as type" menu drop downs giving me problems. Often my screen will flash while browsing a site or doing something. Odd stuff happening. Hope I can get this resolved.

Adding in, I decided to make a new account to see if this was happening on a new account. It's not happening on a new account. Things seem to work well on a new account. So hopefully that narrows down the problem even more.

Since you say that it is not happening on the new account then can you please run each of the commands below in an elevated command prompt.

Sfc /purgecahce Reboot Your machine after confirmation of it finishing.

sfc /scannow Reboot Your machine after confirmation of it finishing.

chkdsk /r
Follow the prompts and then reboot your machine when asked to schedule on the next reboot reply Y.

Let me know how that goes for you.
I will look over the logs and research the errors while you try that.

I ran sfc /scannow on my old account and it found no problems. I didn't run the other two commands.

But what I did now was create a new account, and just started fresh. I deleted my old account and now things are running smoothly. Not sure what was wrong with the old account.

But I am sure those errors are still present that were in some of the logs I attached. Is there anything in needing of additional fixing? I looked them over myself and noticed a few errors. Some due to some services disabled. But anything that could be resolved?

Also thanks for your help thus far. Much appreciated.

That's ok, but no I got it fixed. I made a new account and just copied all the files over. That solved the problem. But thank you.
