This is my problem

1. I have a linux Fedora Core 2 installtion on a 20g hdd
2. My current installation is Windows XP with SP2

I have connected my Linux hdd to a USB connecet.

I have connected my drive via USB to my windows laptop. I need to copy the files off the Linux USB drive to my Windows XP system.

What is the best way to do this??

I know that you have to mount the drive under Linux, is there a way to mount the drive via USB in windowsXP and access the data on the linux drive?

Do you perhaps know of software that enables you to mount different filesystems under windowsXP? :tazz:

Hi, u could try to use the following util "explorefs" go to the html link below and download the utility and as long as the format of the drive coming through the USB port is ext2fs and not Reiser u should be able to see all your linux drives from windows, hope this helps, let me know how it goes!!

http://uranus.it.swi.../explore2fs.htm

Note: The above page has a download link as well as a resonable explanation as to the capabilities of the software, note it says it was designed for NT but I have used it in XP with reasonable success

I think it would be best if you first formatted it in XP using FAT16. After that, if fedora core 2 does not see it, then get core 4. Core 4 will see it and you will have no problem. FAT32 and 16 work with linux and windows.

The main thing as that the data located on the linux hdd is very important and I would like to copy the data off that drive to my winXP before formatting it.
