BSOD's at Startup

I have had this problem for awhile now. At startup I get BSOD's. It usually wants me to run startup repair, but if I let it reboot normally it usually boots up alright. It would also randomly shut down every once in awhile. I downloaded "BlueScreenView" so I have all the info. There are different causes and drivers at fault according to the readout, but mostly it seems to pertain to a memory problem.

I joined a few different forums and everyone seemed to think it was either memory or my mother board.
I also had my box checked out at "Staples". They couldn't find any problems, but said they thought it was memory also. So, I replaced all the ram and everything worked fine for about a week and then it started doing the same thing.

On startup it will jump to BSOD. If i choose the option to restart normally it seems to boot up fine.

For some reason I feel this maybe a driver problem, just from different things I have read. I would appeciate any and all help.

My System Info:

HP Pavillion M8100N, Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 2, AMD Athon 64X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+,2800 Mhz 2cores, 2 Logical Processors,
4 GB of Ram

:welcome: SGrundy

Are you using the MBs integrated video chip or an add on video card?

Couple of things that I would ask that you do for us;

Download Speedfan and install it. Once it's installed, run the program and post here the information it shows. The information I want you to post is the stuff that is circled in the example picture I have attached.
If you are running on a vista machine, please go to where you installed the program and run the program as administrator.

Posted Image
(this is a screenshot from a vista machine)

To capture and post a screenshot;

Click on the ALT key + PRT SCR key..its on the top row..right hand side..now click on start...all programs...accessories...paint....left click in the white area ...press CTRL + V...click on file...click on save...save it to your desktop...name it something related to the screen your capturing... BE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A .JPG ...otherwise it may be to big to upload... then after typing in any response you have... click on browse...desktop...find the screenshot..select it and click on the upload button...then on the lower left...after it says upload successful...click on add reply like you normally would.

Post here the screenshot first before doing step 2, depending on the results we may need to run an alternative program to get further readings for comparison.

Run Windows own memory test and see what that reports http://windows.micro...n-your-computer

NB: To avoid confusion it is advisable that you only follow the guidance of one forum, if you wish to continue here please advise the other forums and likewise if you wish to continue elsewhere let us know, thank you.

I have the program Speedfan. I will follow your instructions and get back to you shortly.
Thank you for answering so fast. I appreciate it. I am using the video card that was installed on the computer when I bought it. (NVidia GeForce 6150SE nForce 430) I think???

I am here for help and will only be following your forum's advice.

Thanks
Solomon

Thanks for the screenshot :thumbsup:

The +3.3V rail is showing as being on the low side (see table below) when you are able to please repeat the first procedure but use HWMonitor this time http://www.cpuid.com.../hwmonitor.html

I asked in my reply #2

Are you using the MBs integrated video chip or an add on video card?

Please advise on which.

The +3.3V rail is again showing a low output so I suggest a final test for confirmation

Download and install Free Everest Home Edition http://www.filehippo...d_everest_home/

Open it.

1: In left pane expand Computer folder.
2: Click once on Summary
3: In upper menu, go Report
4: And then to Quick Report-Summary
5: Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post.
Click the + by computer, click on Sensor. Get a screenshot and post it so your temps and voltages can be checked.

DO NOT INCLUDE ANYTHING UNDER THE LINE THAT SAYS "DEBUG- PCI"

Just so that you are aware the +3.3V rail is responsible for the Ram slots on many MBs - have you done the suggested memory test yet?

I went into the "Performance Information and Tools" to rate my computer's performance. Every time I try to refresh it my computer goes to Blue Screen due to Memory Management. It will not let me finish the tests.

Try turning off Windows Aero and see if that helps, see Adjust Visual Effects tab.

Here is the information you wanted. I haven't tried running a memory test yet. I doubt that it will allow me to do so. Like I said, it will not
even let me refresh the performance test. I'll give it a try though.

So, if my +3.3V rail is faulty, exactly what does that mean?

The Everest report also shows the same bad +3.3V reading which almost certainly proves that your PSU is bad and needs to be replaced, as I said earlier the +3,3V is often responsible for the Ram slots specifically the memory controller meaning that the Ram and slots are not bad but the electrical supply that they need to function correctly is.

Swapping in a known good power supply is the only thing that you can do now, can you borrow one for testing purposes.

You're right the memory test said that there is no problems.

Now, the power supply. What power supply do you mean exactly? How can I swap in a power supply? I haven't got a clue what you mean. Can this problem be fixed?

Have a look at the attached guide and decide if you would be happy to swap the power supply yourself;
