Happy Thanksgiving! I'll try to help you. First, you've got a lot going on, so I'm going to need to sort through your message to make sure I understand your setup.
So, before the issues started, your computer had no internet connectivity on it's own, but did have connectivity through the Xbox via an Ethernet cable, right?I live in a RV Park with free Wi-Fi and there is a log in page so I can not use the Xbox built in Wi-Fi. When I had windows 7 I just hooked my Ethernet cord from my Xbox to the laptop and connected.
Are you running the Network Connectivity test on the computer or the Xbox? If it's the XBox, I'd be interested in what changed on the Xbox as the Win7 to Win8 upgrade wouldn't have effected the Xbox. However, if it's the computer, let me know and we'll puzzle through that together. When I run test connection I failed the network connection test.
I admire your patience! So I called Xbox live and was on the phone for two hours trying to fix it and we tried everything he knew but he did not know much about windows 8.
This is where I'd focus my effort. So, let's talk about the computer and the router. Does the computer have a wireless card or are you connecting to the wireless router via Ethernet? If it's Ethernet, then that would explain why you can't connect to the Xbox via Ethernet. However, if you're connecting wirelessly, describe what is happening. If it's all boiling down to Ethernet, then I'd work through the Network drivers on the Control Panel (let me know if you need details.) and making sure the drivers are correct and updated. So another person I know suggested getting a wireless router I did that as well.
I do understand your frustration! I could tell you how Hero's ends <kidding>, but it would be more fun to get you up and working! Please Please help. I Just started to watch heroes on Netflix and im addicted I need my Netflix on my tv

Ok, since the computer used to connect wirelessly to the network before the update, I'm thinking that the problem might be a compatability issue between Windows 8 and your wireless card. (Let's leave the Xbox out of the equation for now.) So, go to the Control Panel on Windows 8 and look for issues with your Devices (especially your wireless devices). No my computer was able to connect to the campgrounds free WiFi via a wireless card in my laptop. I was using the computer as a router/modem to connect to xbox live.
These directions should get you there. Go to Control Panel, System and Security, System, System Properties, Hardware, Device Manager. You're looking for entries with Yellow Question marks. If you find something, then update the driver. Even if you don't see a Question Mark, check to be sure the wireless driver (under Network Adapters/Wireless Adapters) is current.
Since you have no connectivity, if there are driver issues, you're going to need to get updated drivers via a different computer and transer them to your computer via thumb drive or CD. If you do this, PLEASE make sure A/V and other proection is in place on the machine you download the drivers to, so you can avoid bringing malware to your troublesome computer when you transfer the drivers.
