Hi,

I dont know which mod will read this but a month ago I had issues with freezing and kernel power. It was caused by wireless and ethernet drivers. And also I received a new harddisk from WD, who sent to me a half-broken harddisk 2 months ago.

Now everything works OK, but the speed. I checked the eventvwr and it says "Critical" - Atapi ID 11. I checked many website but couldnt find the solution. Should I update ATAPI drivers because it says they are from 2006. Is it different for every laptop's manufacturer or should I just download?

Can someone lead me please?

Thanks a lot.

Happy holidays.

First step I would suggest is go to your laptop manufacturer website and look for the drivers for your system there. If they have a win7 driver great. If not Vista may work also or you may have to start with the original driver from 2006.

Lets try a third party program then.

Download DriverMax and have it scan your system. It will open their website with all the out of date drivers you can update. With the free version you can update only 2 drivers per day so if you have a lot of them it will take a few days to get everything updated. I have been using it for about 4 months now and like it better then any other utility out there for keeping my drivers up to date.
If you want you can post screenshots of all the drivers in the list that need to be updated and I will suggest in what order to get them.

OK first get the smbus driver. That is the main driver for the motherboard and allows it to identify the other drivers correctly. Download and install it first and then let me know how things are running then.

Check device manager and see if there is a yellow exclamation mark on anything about network, lan, nic or wireless.
If so right click on it and uninstall. Reboot and Windows should reinstall the correct driver so everything will work again.

That problem is solved but now I can use my computer only in safe mode.

Either it freezes on Windows Welcome screen or startup after 2-3 minutes. I can control the mouse but I can't click on anything or do anything. I guess it was a driver problem but also I cant update new drivers from drivermax. (also cant download and install from any other website).

I had some error on eventviewer :

Service Control Manager 7000
Service Control Manager 7009
Service Control Manager 7022

eventvwr export. I guess the problem starts while I was trying to install a driver from the drivermax and then it freezes (not the mouse, or wireless signal) and then i shut it down manually and start the safety mod.

OK try booting into Safe Mode With networking.
That should allow you to use DriverMax again.
You also can try Boot With Last Known Good Configuration and that should get you back into normal mode.
If none of the above work then boot into Safe Mode and open your msconfig startup for me again and get screenshots of the list. I then hopefully can find the driver causing the issue.

I cant install Drivermax driver in safe mode, it says it failed. Now I am writing from safe mode with networking.

I dont know where to activate "boot with last known good configuration".

Last Known is in the list where you get to Safe Mode. It is farther down the list.
