Hey guys, not sure if this is a hardare issue or a os issue. But, my usb ports on my Asus G75V Series laptop are not detecting anything when I lets say plug my flash drive in or any other peripheral device via usb. I proceeded to check the device manager and it says there is an issue it is "A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32)". I have no clue what to do any help would be greatly appreciated.

Download this tool to the machine in question unzip it to the desktop.

Move the 32 or 64 bit version of DriveCleanup.exe to C:\Windows\System32 Folder.
To do this hit the windows key and r at the same time and type the File Location C:\Windows\System32 in the run box.
Drag the 32 or 64 bit version of DriveCleanup.exe from the desktop into the C:\Windows\System32 Folder.

.Then Close all applications power your machine down and remove all usb devices except keyboard and mouse.
Open a command prompt by hitting the windows key and r at the same time and type cmd into the run box and hit enter.
Once the CMD window opens Type drivecleanup.exe Hit enter.
This will clear all old usb drivers on your machine and hopefully help your issue.

Reboot and test.

Install all it finds for you.

Run the program allow it to finish then hit file> save > Save the file to desktop.The default file name will be DeviceList Attach Device list in your next reply.


Might also consider your earliest system restore point to when things were working well.

ok I have attached the device list. No I have not. What exactly does a system restore do? I do not want to lose my work documents by restore to a early date when I do not have them.

Also did the intel update utility offer anything?

You may need to go to your manufacturers website and get the latest chipset driver from there.

All options fail then might consider running the all in one repair tool just make sure and create a restore point prior to running it.
