Since it is a custom built system you won't have the luxury of a factory restore like a brand name system would have.
Did you get disks with the system by chance? Win7 disk especially.

OK factory settings is not going to be accomplished unless you format and do a fresh install of your OS. That would mean backing up all your important data and starting completely over.
With the system restore did you restore back before you activated windows or registered it?
If not then your options are slowly sliding away.
I'm going to ask one of the malware guys to take a look at this because they have the instructions on how to correct the not genuine issue.

Hello Lee95 and welcome to GeeksToGo,

In order to diagnose your activation problem, I will need to see an MGADiag log please:

MGADiag

I would like you to make a MGADiag report for us please.

  • Download MGADiag (by Microsoft) from the link found below:

    http://go.microsoft....k/?linkid=52012

  • Run the tool by double clicking on the file. Press Continue when prompted
  • When it has finished, press Copy then Paste (Ctrl+V) this into your next post

Tom

Hello Lee,

I regret to inform you that your Windows 7 license is counterfeit.

You have an OEM SLP key (ASUS) installed on your computer, which together with a SLIC table in the BIOS forms the OEM activation. As this is a custom build PC, it is impossible that you can have an OEM license as they are shipped with manufactured computers. You are also missing your SLIC table, which is why you can't activate. Your computer shouldn't have a SLIC table in the first place, and shouldn't be using OEM SLP activation (it could, in theory, use OEM System Builder, but it isn't) so all in all, you've got a right mess.

Where did you say that you purchased this license from?
