Hello from Rich. After Feb.14,2013 I can no longer log onto the Internet as a standard user. I have to login as Administrator which I'm told is not too wise. I'm getting - " Windows cannot connect to the Group Policy Client Service". Unfortunately, I can't interpret the Event Log to figure out what happened but I went into the registry, into services and found GPCsvc intact and it had the proper string values so I really don't know where to go or what exactly is missing. Secondly, but not as important, I get error 1606 " Could not access Net Location - %APPDATA%\. when trying to download security updates for adobe, etc. I purchased this Toshiba laptop from another party that seems to also be in the user list also as an Administrator, relevent? Any help will be greatly appreciated to say the least! Peace, be safe, Rich (OTL Extras logfile created on: 2/22/2013 11:34:51 AM - Run 1

Run the Fixit on this page: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/886549

I know it talks about a different error but it fixes the same registry key that is causing your problem.

After you run the fixit:

Right click on (My) Computer and select Manage (Continue) Then click on the arrow in front of Event Viewer. Next Click on the arrow in front of Windows Logs Right click on System and Clear Log, Clear. Repeat for Application.

Reboot.

Start, All Programs, Accessories then right click on Command Prompt and Run as Administrator. Then type (with an Enter after each line).
sfc  /scannow

Does this finish without complaining?

1. Please download the Event Viewer Tool by Vino Rosso
http://images.malwar...om/vino/VEW.exe
and save it to your Desktop:
2. Right-click VEW.exe and Run AS Administrator
3. Under 'Select log to query', select:

* System
4. Under 'Select type to list', select:
* Error
* Warning

Then use the 'Number of events' as follows:

1. Click the radio button for 'Number of events'
Type 20 in the 1 to 20 box
Then click the Run button.
Notepad will open with the output log.

Please post the Output log in your next reply then repeat but select Application.

Copy the text in the code box:

Run OTL (Vista or Win 7 => right click and Run As Administrator)

Paste (Ctrl + v) the copied text in the box where it says Custom Scan/Fixes

Select the All option in the Extra Registry group then Run Scan.

You should get two logs. Please copy and paste both of them.
