OK as of today I am the proud new owner of a Virgin Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2. My first smart phone. Though my question here is something that I have been trying to find for about the last 12 hours and have had absolutely no luck finding so far which leads me to believe either this is something so few care about its astounding or I am so over thinking this its pathetic. I have been trying to find the proper (best) way to do a full system back up of my phone to my computer and/or flash drive so in the off chance i get a viruse, super glitch, ect that causes me to suddenly be holding an offly expensive paper weight instead of a phone.

So is the built in android restore capabilities really secure enough to never have to worry about doing an external backup? or is this something that falls in the realm of "the masses believe this will never happen" .. kind of like people thinking macs cant get a couphvirusecouph lol.

If there is an option for me to do this, I have no problem learning how to do so for the sake of keeping a clean happy smart phone. I just cant seem to find an option that is more to do with proper upkeep (at least what seems like proper) of the phone and less to do with playing around with the base coding of the phone for what ever reason.

You guys have never steered me wrong in 4 years of computers so I thought hopefully yall could help me out with my phone lol.

Once Again bowing to your geekdom.

If you don't like the user interface of Samsung KIES, there is an alternative called Android Manager. It has a 1-click backup option that backup all data on the phone to computer within a few minutes, including contacts, sms, photos, media file, apps. Here is a demo for Samsung sms backup. It also applies to other types of data backup.

I think Android Assistant program can help us backup and restore data from Android to PC. And it's totally safety & no data lost! And probably now you're using one of the following brands that are supported by Android Assistant.

A common way to back up a phone is moving phone data to other devices (Like Computer or mobile phone).
